The Secret Place Journal

Inspired words from the pen of a prophetic scribe.

These are the writings from Dr. Fife's Journal drawn from The Well of His Presence.

Journal Entry for December 1, 2005

Journals are fascinating books. The word ‘journal’ is derived from the word ‘journey’. It implies movement. It is an explorer’s account of life as it is experienced.

Some journals record information that is superficial like the weather or the common events of a day in the life of a person dutifully logging his or her experiences on the pages of a blank book. Other journals are significant historical documents that chronicle the thoughts, lives and experiences of educators, scientists, military, political, or religious individuals whose influence has shaped our worldview. Many private journals are kept hidden away in the back of a dresser drawer or the top shelf of a closet or even locked in a safe where prying eyes and curiosity seekers cannot access the most intimate, confidential thoughts of the writer. Love gained or lost, the high drama of life, the battle to overcome some obstacle or disease, the success and failures of life’s years; this is the stuff that journals are made of.

This Secret Place Journal is different. It is the direct result of my passion for God’s presence. My desire, more than anything else on this planet, is for intimacy with God. My simple prayer is, “God, I want to be like Enoch. I want to walk with you and talk with you and be Your friend.” This is the account of my conversations with God during my Enoch walks with the Lord. It was never my intention to become a prophetic scribe, but God had other plans. I will never forget the day when I was given a very special gift from the Lord.

“I struggled to open my eyes from the soundness of a deep, peaceful sleep. The first thing that I saw were two angels hovering nearby, suspended several feet above the ground. My memory gradually returned, and I realized that the angels had kept watch while Enoch and I slept through the night. We were still where the Lord had left us the previous evening. Enoch was just waking from the nights rest, too. Day was dawning, and the two angels were discussing something in guarded, secretive tones.

Both angels drew near and spread their massive white wings over us. We were covered and enclosed within their powerful, celestial pinions. Shielded within this angelic cathedral, I felt transported into a spiritual realm of existence that superseded the restraints of the flesh. One of the angels took something from beneath his robe and handed it to me. It appeared to be some sort instrument for writing, but it was unlike anything that I had seen before. It was made of polished, glistening gold and measured approximately one foot in length. It had the shape of a hollow, cylindrical tube that was open at both ends. Simply holding it in my hand created a sensation of inspiration, and the heaviness of the gold metal made me think of the weight of God’s awesome glory

“The things you are about to see and hear you must write and record,” the angel said. “These spiritual words must be written so that when you return from this journey, you will be able to declare the revelation.” (See Jeremiah 30:1-2; Habakkuk 2:2.)

I expected to be given some sort of paper or parchment to write upon, but nothing was forthcoming. Seeing my confusion, the angel spoke again, “This writing instrument is also a scroll. As you write with this golden pen, the words will be recorded upon the inside of its cylindrical surface.” (The Secret Place, p161-162)

The words of this journal are written with the Golden Pen. The prophetic nature of these entries needs to be viewed with Holy Spirit anointed eyes. My prayer is that as you read this journal and discern the voice of the Spirit for yourself , your life will be touched by His presence and you will be drawn to your own Secret Place of Intimacy with the Lord.

This is His promise; “ …when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” (Matthew 6:6)
